The use of argon-based welding mixtures instead of traditional carbon dioxide makes it possible to significantly increase the welding speed and improve the reliability and quality of the weld without changing the technology and equipment. This is achieved by increasing the stability of the arc, improving the fluidity of the metal and forcing it into the weld pool.
By changing the composition of the gas mixture, it is possible to change the properties of the weld metal and the welded joint as a whole. Thus, it is possible to control the welding arc – an effective means of controlling productivity, the amount of welding wire loss due to spatter, the shape and mechanical properties of the weld metal, as well as the penetration. The operating ranges for regulating welding modes are also significantly expanded: both in voltage and in current.
For example, the wire feed speed can be increased from 6-7 to 12-14 m / min. In mixtures, the transition to the jet transfer mode is easily realized, which ensures an almost perfect shape of the weld with a minimum level of spray.
By reducing the arc pressure on the weld bath can dramatically reduce the risk of burning the thin-walled parts, even when working at high currents and speeds. This technology can be used for ordinary welding equipment and welding work.
